Elizabeta Ivičević Karas is Professor at the Department of Criminal Procedural Law at Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. She teaches Criminal Procedural Law, Penitentiary Law and Human Rights and Criminal Justice, at both graduate and postgraduate level. So far, she was a head researcher of two scientific projects and she participated as the key expert or a researcher in many other scientific projects. From 2015-2017 she was head of two Ministry of Justice expert teams for draft amendment of Croatian Criminal Procedure Act and since 2010 she has been a member of several other expert groups for draft amendments of legislation. Her publications include four books (one as co-author), two manuals (co-author) and numerous scientific papers, articles and reviews.

She is a member of Scientific Council for Government Administration, Judicature and the Rule of Law of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Art. She is also a member of Fair Trials – Legal Experts Advisory Panel (LEAP), Croatian Law Centre, Croatian Association of Criminal Sciences and Practice, and Croatian Association of European Criminal Law.
