Helmut Satzger


Helmut Satzger is a German professor in criminal Law, focussing on European and International criminal Law. Born in 1966, he studied law at the University of Passau (Germany) and King`s College London. His legal clerkship (Referendariat) he spent in Berlin, Paris and La Paz (Bolivia). In 1994 he published his doctoral thesis on “An Examination of the Criminal Liability of Tendering Manipulations as Fraud”. In 2000 he completed his postdoctoral thesis on the “Europeanisation of Criminal Law” and obtained the venia legendi in “Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, International Criminal Law and European Law”. His numerous publications cover all fields of criminal law and criminal procedural law, he is author of a popular textbook on “International and European Criminal Law” (Nomos) and editor of a commentary on the German Criminal Code, several journals and book series.
